A later (1821) edition of Kitchen's fascinating 1777 map of New Spain (Mexico) and New Mexico from Robertson's History of America features detailed topography, many place names, Cortes's route during the conquest of the Aztecs, and an inset map of the environs of Mexico City. California is "New Albion," Texas is spelled "Tecas" and is just south of the "Great Space of Land Unknown."
