Impression: Very Fine. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading to moon, sky, and foreground; extensive deep "gauffrage" (embossing) to rabbit's fir; strongly visible "woodgrain" to blue sky area; highly detailed carving, crisp lines.

Condition: Excellent. Excellent colors. Very clean front and verso. (No flaws noted--pristine.)

Ohara Koson (1877-1945) was a Japanese painter and printmaker of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and became a part of the shin-hanga ("New Prints") art movement in Japan. This movement was influenced by European Impressionism and its imagery focused on landscapes, women, and nature. Koson is well known for his serene images of animals and nature.
