2nd-4th century AD. A hollow-formed gold finger ring with barrow round-section hoop, rounded flared shoulders, discoid bezel with cell and inset carnelian intaglio of a phallic male with arms raised. Cf. Chadour, A.B. Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 358 for type. 2.77 grams, 19mm overall,15.98 mm internal diameter (approximate size British K, USA 5 1/4, Europe 10.0, Japan 9) (3/4"). Property of a North London collector; acquired in the 1970s.
