Collection of over 120 original Alaskan photographs from the early 1920's .
The Photographs depict the journey of the three Pelton brothers who travelled from their home town of Flint, Michigan seeking their fortune in Alaska during the 1920's.
Photographs include images of gold mining operations. logging, hunting, trapping, fishing, Alaska railroads, bridges, totems and hospitals .
There are views of Sitka (Alaska) with totem poles, rivers of the Yukon with steamer ships, raging rapids, dams & canyons. Locations include the Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, Fairbanks, Wrangell, Haines, Dawson City, towns near the Arctic Circle and more.
There are photographs of everyday life in Alaska: Eskimo families, the Pelton brothers and their wives celebrating the 4th of July in Juneau, camping along the Yukon River, hunting Caribou and bears, fishing in the Salmon Creek, visiting Arctic villages, farming, viewing hospitals, rugged airplane travel, etc.
Additionally, there are 25 photo & original photo post cards of Eskimos, landscapes, reindeer, bear, Fort Yukon and more.
Since they traveled by car from Michigan to Alaska, via Southwestern U.S.A. there are 40 additional photographs of this epic journey.
Images: Yellowstone Park (Old Faithful Geyser), California views, New Mexico, Oregon, Arizona, etc.
Majority of the photographs are identified en verso.
Condition: all in very good condition.
Photographs were removed from individual sleeves of photo album to facilitate the taking group pictures.
Provenance: This Pelton brothers photograph album has been passed down through the family to the present owner. Michigan estate
