Extraordinary jade, platinum and diamond cufflinks, c.1925, 3.5 dwts.Estate of Rudolph Mickelson, 1215 Fifth Avenue, NYC.For those unfamiliar with the choice of drilling small jade discs and mounting diamonds in them, the task is almost impossible.When jade is as thin as these discs are, the chance is very great that drilling a hole through them will cause them to break in half.Only the most skilled jewelers of the 1920's would even attempt this.There are 5 round diamonds in each circular jade disc, with the center diamonds approximately .05cts and the surrounding diamonds approximately .01ct each for a total diamond weight of .36cts.Diamonds are excellent color and excellent quality, E color, VS1.
