Pair porcelain 8 1/2 inch vases with the portraitures of two popular American poets, Longfellow & Bryant. First, the world famous author, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, with a verse taken from his The Psalm of Life poem: Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time. Second the romantic poet, William Cullen Bryant with a verse taken from his poem The Battle-Field: Truth, crushed to earth, shall rise again The eternal years of God are hers; But Error, wounded, writhes in pain, And dies among his worshippers. Both vases bear the underglaze marks C.T. & S plus two artists monograms. Minor gold wear. Excellent condition.
