Desire Christian cameo and martele handled vase, entitled La Vigne. Beneath fruitful grape vines is a barefoot maiden wearing a long gown and seated in a floral meadow crushes juice from a grape pod into her chalice, the design done in wine purple over custard. La Vigne, translation The Vine, is engraved below the maiden. The clear handles repeat the vine design in cameo appearing custard in color until held to light then becoming a pale amethyst. Beneath the base which has the unusual feature of a nice martele finish is the hand engraving D. Christian, Meisenthal Loth. Aside from a slight, barely noticeable, internal heat check to one handle, the vessel is in excellent original condition. Height is 13 3/8 inches.
