Description
Samuel Whiting (American, 1778-19th C.). Concord, Massachusetts, c. 1810-1815. Height (without finial): 37 1/2", Width: 10", Depth: 3 7/8". Presentation clock features a mahogany banjo style case with pierced brass side brackets and gilt ornamentation, a framed glass door with reverse glass panel painted to display a naval battle from the War of 1812, a reverse painted throat glass panel, a clock face with Roman numerals, gold leaf accents, and a single key wind. Clock face displays script: "Warranted by S. Whiting, Concord." Naval battle scene possibly depicts USS Constitution vs HMS Guerriere.
Condition
Good Condition; clock is missing top finial and two round embellishments at base, displays overall wear consistent with age and use, and is also sold AS-IS; clock has not been tested.
