Outstanding Canvasback decoy attributed to Sam Barnes, Havre de Grace, MD. A wonderfully craved and very early decoy shows a structurally near perfect body retaining its original paint. The head has been dislodged at some point with a couple of repairs then repainted, all accomplished many years ago. The bird measures 12 1/2" OAL x 5 1/2"W x 7 3/4"H. The original weight and tie eye remains with the bird and there may be some added white to bottom over the years, but only around tie eye and weight. At least 80% of the body paint is original. Sam Barnes is a very desirable Maryland Eastern shore maker. Would guess this bird to be made in the late 1920's. $300-600 (EOC-11195)
