BRITISH SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN, oil on canvas, distinguished sitter wearing green waistcoat and white cravat, posed with hunting dog, estate grounds in the distant background, old printed Liverpool framer's label and inscribed note identifying sitter as "William Mercer and his dog 'Vanish' of Grove House Kent". Housed in a period molded giltwood frame. Circa 1830. 29 1/2" x 24" sight, 37 1/2" x 32" OA.
Very good visual condition with minor abrasions and areas of discoloration, possible minor inpainting under varnish. Frame with minor wear and likely later surface.
