Elvis Presley September 8, 1955 Louisiana Hayride Contract Copy - This is a copy of Elvis Presley's contract with the Louisiana Hayride, which was originally signed on November 6th, 1954. The contract was signed by Elvis Presley, his bandmates Scotty Moore and Bill Black, and witnessed by Vernon and Gladys Presley who also had to sign, as Elvis was just 19 at the time. The contract entered Elvis into an agreement with the International Broadcasting Corporation who operated the radio station KWKH. KWKH had a program called "The Louisiana Hayride" which was a musical program which was broadcasted over the air during a public performance with a live audience. The contract was for Elvis to begin his performances on Saturday November 6, 1954, and continue for (52) consecutive Saturdays, until November 6, 1955. Elvis was to be paid the sum of $18 (his bandmates would receive $12 per show) after each performance. On September 8th, 1955 Elvis’ contract was renewed for $200 per show, as Elvis’ fame had grown in the year since his initial appearance. The copies of these pages is also contained in this document, which are signed only by Elvis, Vernon, and Gladys Presley, and do not include his bandmates.
