Description
A lovely framed set of Egyptian cartonnage panels, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, comprised of gessoed wood which has been painted, the left panel depicting a Ba-Bird standing right atop a base, feather of Ma'at at shoulder, vertical column of pseudo Hieroglyphic text in upper fields. The second panel depicts the goddess Ma'at seated left upon a base behind Horus the falcon who also stands on a base, feather before and at shoulder, vertical column of pseudo Hieroglyphic text between in upper field. Both are handsomely painted in red, white and blue painted and very well preserved. They are mounted together within a rectangular shadow box. Frames measures 19 3/4 in x 12 in (50.2 x 30.4 cm). Panels measure 7 1/2 in x 6 in (19.1 x 15.2 cm) and 8 3/4 in x 7 1/4 in (22.3 x 16.4 cm). Ex Malter Galleries, CA.
