Description
Magna Graecia, Southern Italy, Canosa, ca. late 4th to early 3rd century BCE. A sweet mold-made statuette of a nude male figure draped with a garment running from the back of his head to his toes, with generous remains of red and white pigment, added pigment being one of the hallmarks of Canosan pottery and sculpture. He stands in classic contrapposto on an integral base, leaning with a weight shift upon his left leg, arms casually falling to his sides, facing forward with a sensitively delineated visage. Size: 4" H (10.2 cm)
