Item Details

Description

This is a charming silver plated brass mussel shell figural box. The piece is marked on the inside with what appears to be a German or Italian 800 silver mark. This piece would make a charming pill box, small catchall, or desk item. The box opens easily and has a good range of motion. The piece is quite accurately detailed with the lines and shape of a mussel shell. The piece is approximately 3” long and approximately 1 1/4” at its widest point. This piece weighs 13.50 grams. This piece was likely made some time in the 1930s or ’40s. This darling mussel shell box would make the perfect gift for thalassophile in your life, or a wonderful addition to your vintage silver collection!
