Item Details

Description

Circa 1870s Occupational Tintype Photograph; Depiction of gentleman seated at a desk while studying what appears to be an open ledger. A fountain pen is tucked behind one ear. Several large books are stacked behind him. A small oil lamp sits next to the books. I'm not sure what the apparatus is at the front corner of the table. AN ARTISTIC POSE SELDOM SEEN IN THE LATER "TINTYPE" ERA. See scans. Tintype is in a paper mat sleeve which is about 2-1/2" x 4". Condition: some light soiling and light surface scuffs, occasional edge wear.
