A PAIR OF EMPIRE STYLE GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE TEN-LIGHT CANDELABRA IN THE EGYPTIAN TASTE IN THE MANNER OF PIERRE-PHILLIP THOMIRE (French 1751-1843) AFTER A DESIGN BY CHARLES PERCIER (French 1764-1838), FRENCH, LATE 19TH EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each with five gilt bronze trumpet form candle holders with chased palmette leaf decoration over five scrolled arms with chased palmette leaf bobêches and pans and rosette centered lotus scrolls, surmounted by lotus finial and palmette leaf and lotus flower scrolls, all issuing from a reeded columnar standard with palmette leaf capitol, supported on the head of a patinated bronze standing Egyptian female figure with gilt bronze falcon headdress over patinated bronze wig of ringlets, at the neck a beaded collar, from the bust a girdle suspending a gilt bronze plaque with pseudo hieroglyphs, holding in her hands a gilt bronze palm frond and a lotus frond, raised on spreading rectangular plinth bordered by beveled gilt bronze mount centering a winged scarab at the top and a chased stylized palmette mount at the bottom, the front of the plinth with gilt bronze mount of a winged scarab supported by addorsed serpent heads centering a solar disc, and at the sides a funerary mask with pendant scrolled palmette decoration, with rectangular base raised on four gilt bronze paw feet with scrolled palmette leaf supporters. In overall good condition with minor surface rubbing and wear, the pans and bobêches drilled for wiring, as is the back of the spreading plinth.
