Description
1701 A Priest to the Temple George Herbert Welsh Pastoral Manual Prayer Poems
“Woe be to him that reads but one book.” ― George Herbert
George Herbert was a 17th-century Welsh poet and priest known for his collection of poems entitled “The Temple”. As a supplement to that collection, he wrote a guide to ministry in rural areas entitled “A Priest to the Temple” in which he provides goals for readers to aim toward spiritually and practical advice to clergy. Some of this advice included the idea that things of ordinary use, such as ploughs, leavening, and dancing, could be used to “serve for lights even of Heavenly Truths.”
