Lucan discusses the cultural despair experienced in Rome and also exposes many of the flaws that Julius Caesar possessed in his political and military leadership. In addition to historical importance, ‘Pharsalia’ includes elements of the supernatural, dream interpretation, ghosts, and prophetic visions.
This mid-16th-century edition was edited and printed by Sebastian Gryphius in 1547.
