Greece, Caria Islands off Caria, Rhodos, Hecatomnus, ca. 395 to 377 BCE. AR tetradrachm (14.2 g). Obverse: Zeus Labraundos standing right. Reverse: Lion standing right within circular incuse. Cp. SNG Kayhan 868–9. Size: 1" W x .8" H (2.5 cm x 2 cm)

Hecatomnus was the satrap of Caria for the Persian Achaemenid king Artaxerxes II. He was a native of Mylasa, which he made his capital and the seat of his government. As a result, on his coins he used the Zeus Labraundos, the cult icon from Mylasa's temple at Labraunda. The remains of the temple can still be seen today.
