Eva Zeisel, an extremely rare glaze test piece for Monmouth Pottery: A Dinner Plate painted with floral ornament by pottery employees to test glaze colors, Monmouth Pottery, Western Stoneware Company, Eva Zeisel Fine Stoneware, Monmouth, Illinois, circa 1953-1954. Dia.: 9 in. (22.8 cm). 1620-116
Provenance: Estate of Bette Cooper
Note: Bette Cooper, co-author of Monmouth Western Stoneware (1983), was an unofficial archivist for the factory and collected examples of these works, including test pieces, as they came off the line.
