Eva Zeisel, a rare test of the covered bird-form two-quart Casserole, Blueberry glaze, Eva Zeisel Fine Stoneware, Monmouth Pottery, Western Stoneware Company, Monmouth, Illinois, circa 1953-1954. Unmarked. Height: 7 3/4 in. (19.7 cm); width: 8 3/4 in. (22.5 cm). 1620-058

Note: Bette Cooper, co-author of Monmouth Western Stoneware (1983), was an unofficial archivist for the factory and collected examples of these works, including test pieces, as they came off the line. Overall very good condition. One small chip to flange on lid, some scattered inherent glaze faults.
