Description
LEE/ROSE NO. 699 CUP PLATE, colorless, 27 even scallops with single point between, very thick pressing. Rare. Unknown origin. 1830-1850. 3 1/4" D.
Near proof with only the loss of two small points and several minute top-rim spalls. Open bubble causing a minor loss to one scallop, as made.

Provenance: Collection of Jim Lawrence and Denver Smallwood, Chattanooga, TN.
Catalog Note: Rose stated "Proof specimens are probably not to be found". This example is probably as close to proof as possible for this plate. It is in better condition than both of the Elsholz examples.
