Description
LEE/ROSE NO. 671 CUP PLATE, strong fiery opalescent, 24 bull's-eye scallops with single point between. Very rare. Midwestern. 1830-1845. 3 1/2" D.
Literature: Lee/Rose, p. 362. The McKearins - American Glass, pl. 180, fig. 6, "100 Best" colored. Like Elsholz, lot 1714.
Provenance: Property of a New York private collector.
Catalogue Note: An example of this plate from the Marble collection was included in the 1954 Corning exhibit (case 37, no. 611) and included by Rose in his new "100 Best" colored list. He noted that it is now very rare.
Loss of one scallop and partial loss of another, otherwise only minor mold roughness.
