**First Time At Auction**
Europe, Sardinia, late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age, ca. 11th to 7th century BCE. A rare find, a cast bronze archer figure, standing facing the viewer, with its bow drawn to one side, one arm crossed over its body to hold the bowstring. The figure stands very straight, with no bend to its knees, and is depicted with a long quiver on its back. This type of figure is known as a Nuragic bronze statuette, and it is believed that they represent scenes of everyday life for the people who lived in Sardinia during this time period. They are found in wells, in temples, and in villages. Size: 2" W x 2.95" H (5.1 cm x 7.5 cm); 3.7" H (9.4 cm) on included custom stand.

Ancient loss to lower portion of bowstring. Smooth, light green patina on surface. Nicely preserved form.
