Item Details
Description
Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A cast-bronze cup bearing a slender stem beneath the body that leads down to a stable discoid foot. The exterior walls are decorated with raised bands that create a textured exterior perfect for gripping, and the flared rim meant that the contents could easily flow out. Enticing layers of dark green patina have developed over the millennia and create a pleasing presentation. Size: 3.4" Diameter x 3.75" H (8.6 cm x 9.5 cm)

Provenance: private Constance McCormick Fearing estate, Montecito, California, USA, acquired before 2004
