De-accessioned in the early 20th century from the famed Le Secq des Tournelles Museum, in Rouen, France. This museum houses the worlds greatest collection of early European metalwork, formerly the D'Allemagne Collection. The Dover edition of this collection is an indispensable part of any antiquarian reference library. 6 of these mounts were published in the omnibus catalog of the museum ("Accesoires du Costume et du Mobilier" ), but all 18 are from the same collection.
