Description
Francisco de Goya y Lucientes (Spanish, 1746-1828), "El sueno de la razon produce monstruos (The sleep of reason produces monsters)", as Plate 43 in "Los Caprichos", etching and aquatine on paper, fifth state, labeled on verso from Ferdinand Roten Galleries, Baltimore, Maryland. Work on paper depicting a sleeping male figure at writing desk with title text on side of desk, bats, owls and other creatures flying out behind him in the dark. Framed approximately 16.5" x 12.25". Sight size approximately 8.75" x 6'.
