Description
Manner of Delphin Massier (Vallauris/France, 1836 - 1907), last quarter 19th century. An impressive Majolica figural floor vase or umbrella/walking stick holder modeled as a crane or heron standing in front of a vase formed of large leaves and cattails, all upon a circular pedestal base naturalistically decorated with water lily leaves. The underside with impressed "7733". Approximate height 29.12".
Condition
Repair with traces of glue at neck and beak;responding to black light (see image #4). Minor flakes and minor crazing. Wear to interior of vase and foot commensurate with age and usage.
