Description
English, 19th century, with later restorations. George III style mahogany secretary bookcase with dentil molded cornice over a pair of paneled doors flanked by Corinthian fluted pilasters and opening to a fitted interior with pigeon holes and document shelves above a pair of candleslides (slides lacking). The case with slant front central inlaid prospects door flanked to both sides with four valanced pigeon holes above a long and two short inlaid drawers, one concealed slide drawer fronted by turned column to the left of door, all above four graduated drawers, each individual locking mechanisms stamped "HOBBS & CO LONDON, LEVER MACHINE MADE". The whole raised on ogee-bracket feet; top likely married to case. Approximate height 85.5", width 44.37", depth 25.12" (back foot to front).
