Description
A George III mahogany breakfront secretary bookcase, early 19th century, the molded cornice above four astragal molded doors, enclosing four short and two long adjustable shelves, over three mahogany lined frieze drawers, the center drawer having a hinged fall with an inset green leather writing panel enclosing a fitted interior with satinwood faced small drawers and pigeon holes, the four paneled doors below raised on a plinth base.

Condition
With an overall slightly musty odor from storage. General wear and movement to veneers. Most of the glass panels appear to have been replaced. The cornice with reinforcement and repair. The plinth base with extensive reinforcement with 2x4 boards hidden underneath the lower section. The interior with a later red-painted surface and later adjustable shelves. Dings, dents, surface scratches and small losses throughout, heaviest wear to the plinth base. The brass hardware is replaced.
