Description
William Hogarth (British,1697-1764), "Southwark Fair"-circa 1733, etching and engraving on paper, first of only one state, "Invented Painted & Engrav'd by Wm Hogarth 1733" lower left margin, verso of back frame board with label from "Doig, McKechnie & Davies"--a picture dealer in Edinburgh in 1857-1884. Satirical print depicting a public fair with a crow of figures in various activities showing debauchery and people vying for attention. Framed approximately 18" x 22.3".
