Latin America, Mexico, Spanish Colonial, ca. 1800 to 1900 CE. A finely painted oil on tin retablo depicting Christ parting his robe to reveal a symbol known as a Sacred Heart. The Sacred Heart symbolizes compassion and unmitigated love. The message to the devout is that one may find and express divine love in one's own heart. A beautifully painted devotional folk painting! Custom wood frame. Size: retablo itself measures ~9-1/2" x 6-5/8" (24.1 x 16.8 cm); framed 12-1/2" x 9-5/8" (31.8 x 24.4 cm)
