Description
Roman Empire, ca. 1st century CE. Pottery upper section including the rim, one full handle and a section of the second handle. Most closely resembling a Dressel type 30 amphora with distinct wheel-thrown banding and slightly widened rim. This would have been part of a large - no less than 30" H - vessel that commonly held and transported wine, water, and oil throughout the Mediterranean Sea region. Size: 10.5" W x 5.25" H (26.7 cm x 13.3 cm)
