Description
Western Europe, World War I, ca. 1914 to 1918. A pair of military brass canon shell casings turned into fine examples of trench art. Each shell is marked 75 DEC on the base. Both are embellished with matching decorative curvilinear patterns in repousse and repeated stamped circular motifs; the bases are characteristically delineated with deep fluted grooves, and the upper sections present puckered textured surfaces and flared rims.
