Description

Polychrome painted wooden dial with Roman numerals, gilt and painted bird on branch in lunette and flowers in spandrels, face signed Read & Watson, second dial above and calendar dial below center, all missing hands. Wooden 30 hour weight driven movement with weights, lacking pendulum. Case in cherry with broken arch topped dovetailed bonnet with inlaid star burst terminals and turned finials, tombstone door with original turned cherry knob, flanked by full turned columns, front and rear with block capitals and plinths. Waiste with inset door with large inlaid oval and cock beaded edge, flanked by chamfered corners with lambs tongue terminals, cove molding above and below. Base with large circular inlay on front with curly cherry surround, chamfered corners with lambs tongue terminals and flared Hepplewhite feet, poplar secondary wood, 20 1/4 x 10 1/2 x 95 1/2" high.

Condition

Refinished and finial likely old replacements, else Fine.
