Description
1783-1837, Lebanon Co. Pa. With polychrome painted steel dial with Arabic numerals, Phase of the moon in lunette, with cut-out world hemispheres below and lyre painted floral spandrels, seconds dial above and calendar aperture below center, signed on face Geo. Oves/Lebanon, (county seat in Lebanon Ct., Penn.) original cut-out steel hands. Brass weight driven English bell strike movement with original weights and pendulum. Cherry case in fine original dark varnish finish with broken arch top bonnet with turned rosette terminals and three turned finials, tombstone door, flanked by full turned columns with block capitals and plinths. Waiste with tombstone overlapping door with thumb molded edge and oval window in lower part, chamfered corners with lambs tongue terminals, cove molding at top and bottom. Base with half round molding at bottom on turned feet, untouched condition, pine secondary wood, 19 x 10 1/2 x 98 3/4" high.
