Chinese celadon Nephrite jade in model of a mythical beast Qilin, generally have Chinese dragon-like features. Eyes with thick eyelashes, manes that flow slightly upward and beards. The body like an ox, slightly faced east, resting in relax position on its four legs, its three branching tail freely laid on right hip. Displayed exquisitely upon a carved hardwood stand. Qilin are thought to be a symbol of luck, good omens, protection, prosperity, success, and longevity by the Chinese. Qilin are also a symbol of fertility, and often depicted in decorations as bringing a baby to a family. The Nephrite jade shows celadon color with hints of russet inclusions and moist milky appearance.
