Description
Fine Chinese blue and white porcelain brush pot. Of cylindrical body, slightly waisted in the center body, with straight opening and flat base. The body decorated with hand painting in under glazed cobalt blue of high rank officer gathering in a garden landscape scene. The glaze stopped slightly above foot base, revealed a pale-creme ground foot rim with grayish-brown firing spots and spiral marks. The porcelain brush pot elegantly presented upon a carved hardwood stand, displayed inside a wooden framed glass box upon a metallic-yellow silk covered pedestal, and bordered with attractive patterned red ribbon.
The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese GuanYao porcelain Imperial wares , with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the painting, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well drawn, clear, subtle, and distinct. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous.

PROVENANCE:
From the collection of General Chen Qi 陳淇; (1912-2000), who styled himself as Cangquan (滄泉 and Yuquanshanren 玉泉山人), an artist, calligrapher, a prominent businessman and private antiques collector.
