Description
Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ban Chiang, ca. 300 BCE. A large, elegant bichrome pottery vessel, the body of a rounded form with a flared neck that gently undulates halfway up, with a round base created to sit in the sand, the surface of the body covered with a mesmerizing decorative program of fine-line red swirls, striations, and waves over a cream-hued base, the neck with multiple registers of repeated abstract geometric motifs. Quite elegant! Size: 11.5" W x 13" H (29.2 cm x 33 cm)
