Condition
All volumes in lot are fair to good condition overall. Front boards of all three are slightly bowed. The 1st two volumes’ (“Postillae Maiores” & “Theres ae de Iesv”) spine and boards display edge-wear chipping, surface losses as well as slight to complete separation at the hinge of the front endpaper that is mitigated by the each respective books binding, which is largely intact. Interior front cover board and front endpapers show evidence of minor worming and several notations and signatures in pencil and ink. “Theres ae de Iesv” displays two clasps of which one is fully intact, but due to the age/expansion of interior pages is non-functional.
Interior pages in “Postillae Maiores” appear largely complete with one noticeable torn page in between pages 518 & 519. Otherwise, pages bear some staining, are tan that is consistent with age and normal handling with some minor folds, a few scattered notations in pencil and ink, some dog ears and minor foxing.
Interior pages in “Theres ae de Iesv” are appear complete, which aside from a few of the front and more significantly in the back - pages have some staining and foxing. Otherwise, pages are fairly bright with one noticeable loss of the 1st page of the “Dedicatio” (90% torn away).
Interior pages of the third volume, which includes a small vintage photo dated 1955 of father & son with cut scalloped edges and appears to be a mid-20th century reprint of the original 1690 text, appear largely complete with one noticeable torn back endpaper. Otherwise, pages are lightly tan that is consistent with age and normal handling with some minor folds/dog ears, minor foxing and staining scattered throughout.
