Monumental Continental Gothic Revival oak monk's cabinet, 19th century, having a carved and pierced acanthus crest flanked by gargoyle finials, above Gothic arches filled with tracery and overlaid with a triangular buttress having acanthus carved ornaments, carved figures of saints, and Corinthian columns, surmounting three frieze drawers decorated with foliate carvings and centering shields with figural ram's head pulls, interspaced with Gothic and floral rosettes, above a demilune cabinet having a running frieze of relief carved acanthus, centering a frieze drawer with pierced metal lock plate and latch, above two doors decorated with Gothic arches and tracery with tooled leather inserts behind, opening to two adjustable shelves, flanked by high relief carved figural panels depicting hooded monks and divided by Corinthian columns topped with high relief carved royal figures, the whole rising on a shaped apron centering an acanthus drop pendant above an open shelf lined with linen fold paneling and supported by carved columns, terminating to a trefoil apron and bracket feet, 102"h x 57"w x 19"d.
