Rare Pino Signoretto (Italian, b.1944) "Embrace" Murano Glass Sculpture. This important palatial art glass sculpture depicts two lovers in overall pink and internal dark green sommerso style murano art glass. It also has a very fine textured finish throughout the sculpture. The sculpture is accompanied with a fitted dark green lighted pedestal. Signed "Pino Signoretto" on top of base. Pino Signoretto was born in 1944 in a small town near Venice and in 1954 began working at a chandelier glassworks. In 1959 he learnt from the great masters Alfredo Barbini, Livio Seguso, Ermanno Nason and Angelo Seguso, and in 1960 became a master glassmaker. He gained complete mastery of the trade and all the technical knowledge for working glass. In 1978 he opened his own studio in Murano. He has worked with artists and architects, including Dalì, Vedova, Licata, Kruft, Dal Pezzo, Vitali, Pomodoro and Willson. It is widely known in the Murano Glass world and mostly everywhere else, that this design “Embrace” by Pino Signoretto is what put him on the map and launched his career as a Master Glass Artist and Designer. Measures (Sculpture) - 44 1/4" high x 7" diameter. Pedestal - 37 1/4" high x 12 3/4" diameter. Total height - 81 1/2" high.
