A calligraphy couplet by Wang Xie given to Xian Zhou. It consists of 7 characters for each. They are on paper with silk backings and wooden dowels. The pair have a signature, dedication, and 2 seals.

Dimensions are 52 1/4 inches tall X 12 1/2inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is some minor creasing, but overall good condition.

Provenance: From the estate of Ai Xian Zhou (1890-1955). Mr. Ai was a pioneer of higher education in China during theearly 20th century, as well as a renowned psychologist. He was a professor of psychology and a dean of the College of Education at China Central University. He was also appointed to various leadership positions in the Department ofEducation in the Nationalist government of the 1930s and 1940s.
