Description
Central Asia, Scythian, ca. 900 to 200 BCE. A breathtaking cast bronze applique depicting a horse in motion with magical details including a stylized mane, and a spiral motif over the front and hind quarters of the body. The Scythians were fierce warriors hailing from nomadic tribes who terrorized the plains of Siberia. Other cultures including the Huns and the Mongols were influenced by these "masters of mounted warfare" as the British Museum curatorial team aptly characterized them in a description of their current exhibition "Scythians: Warriors of Ancient Siberia." Custom stand. Size: 5.625" W x 3.875" H (14.3 cm x 9.8 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.
