Obsolete CurrencyBank of North America $1 Note
Philadelphia, PA, The Bank of North America, $1, 1862 Issued Note, Very Good.
Haxby PA-465 G84a. An important type and probably one of the most frequently seen $1 bills in commerce during the Civil War. This was a late date note, dated 1862, with a very patriootic motif. Under the title, Washington seated, cannon and tents nearby. Lower left, silversmith Joseph Richardson and view of Indpendence Hall at the lower right. The notation "Chartered by Congress 1781" is engraved under the title. The green protectors have bled a little into the paper. High grade notes of this type are not often seen like two decades ago. The first we have offered.
