Space Shuttle. Space Shuttle orbiter was the reusable spaceplane operated by NASA, this vehicle could carry astronauts and payloads into low Earth orbit, perform in-space then re-enter the atmosphere and land as a glider, returning its crew and any on-board payload to the Earth. Six orbiters were built for flight: Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour. The program ran from 1981 until 2011 and had 135 missions: Space Shuttle Mission STS-29. STS-29 was a NASA Space Shuttle mission, during which Space Shuttle Discovery nserted a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) into Earth orbit. It was the third shuttle mission following the Challenger disaster of 1986, and launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, in March 1989. STS-29 was the eighth flight of Discovery and the 28th Space Shuttle mission overall. The five astronaut crew was: Commander Michael Coats, Pilot John Blaha and Mission Specialists BobSpringer, James Buchli and James Bagian. 10” x 8” NASA crew lithograph, inscribed: “To Paul Cassidy – Best Wishes from theSTS-29 Crew!” and signed by the five astronauts.
