Description
Ancient Near East, Sumeria, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A black stone seal, carved in the general ovoid form of a scarab without defining details, and pierced laterally. One side has been incised with a seal depicting a tall, anthropomorphic figure with three dots above its head standing next to a palm-like, tall tree. Perhaps this symbol references the mythical garden that the Mesopotamian gods were believed to inhabit. Comes with a custom stand displaying a clay impression of the seal. Size: 0.55" W x 0.75" H (1.4 cm x 1.9 cm); 1.05" H (2.7 cm) on included custom stand.
