AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART GENRE PAINTING, oil on canvas, depicting a boy drinking from a well, with dogs around his feet, in rural setting; likely original stretcher retains Boston merchant's label. Housed in a 19th-century gilt frame. Together with an oil on board scene of a fisherman returning to his young family on the shore, no signature located, housed in a 19th-century gilt frame. Two pieces total. Second half 19th century. Boy at well 11 3/8" x 9 3/8" sight, 16 1/4" x 14 1/4" OA.
Boy at well with small puncture and loss at upper center, otherwise very good. Frame with wear and small losses to gesso. Fisherman and family in poor condition with abrasions, surface losses, and significant discoloration.
