Description
1662 1ed Francis Bacon Augmentis Scientiarum Philosophy Science Inventions
“Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly.” ― Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon, one of the most famous English philosophers and scientists of the Renaissance. While most of his work deals with discovery, scientific method, and the scientific revolution, he did lean strongly toward Puritanism in his personal devotion.
A rare printing of Bacon’s “Augmentis Scientiarum”. This work was written mostly to help classify philosophy and the sciences. Bacon also developed his theories on the relationship between science and theology. Originally printed in 1605, this fine Amsterdam reissue of the 1645 edition is beautiful, complete, and includes the Elzevier-style engraved title page. Willems notes this edition as a beautiful edition.
