This is an awesome set of (5) antique sterling silver flat handle butter spreaders in the 1901 pattern 'Federal Cotillion aka Edward VII' by Frank W. Smith SIlver Co. Frank W. Smith Silver Co. Inc. began in 1886 in Massachusetts. It was sold in 1917 and ceased manufacturing in 1930. A subsidiary of Reed & Barton purchased the silver assets in 1958 and moved the flatware manufacturing to N. Attleboro, MA. These are nice solid butter spreaders. Each measures approximately 5-5/8" in length. The weight of the set is approximately 153 grams or 4.9 ozt. These are in very good condition. Hand polished, but being a vintage item, there may still be some patina, small spots of discoloration, toning, or light scratches due to age. Any very large, dark areas are reflections.
